Membership
Members of MAGAL include judges, attorneys, psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, mental health counselors, visitation supervisors and family service officers. MAGAL serves as a primary source of affiliation and training for family forensics professionals who work with high conflict family dynamics, particularly Guardians ad Litem (GALs) and Parenting Coordinators (PCs). Membership is by application, which can be submitted on line or by mail, and is subject to approval of the board. Our membership year runs from October 1 for everyone and dues are $75. New members whose applications are submitted after May 1 may pay $40 for the remainder of the year.
Membership in MAGAL brings a number of important benefits:
- MAGAL’s listserve offers open access to members for substantive professional discussions and referrals. One of the most important benefits of membership is access to our listserv.
- Membership offers discounted conferences and training workshops.
- Members are listed in our online and hardcopy directories with a detailed profile created by each member. Hard copy directories are distributed to all Family and Probate Courts. The online directory is open to the public and offers an advanced search tool which allows members to be found according to a number of variables. This is an excellent source of referrals.
- MAGAL offers periodic topical discussion groups and is an important source of collegial support and networking
- MAGAL’s interactive website provides a wealth of information to family forensic professionals and the public. The member portal provides access to additional information and resources open to paid members only.
